Natwest not playing ball

In december last year i contacted the CCCS due to my debt becoming out of control, as i didnt and still dont have a regular income the only advise they could offer me was to go bankrupt or use a website called sterling trust to make up a income and expenditure statement to send to my creditors and make a offer of payment. Bankruptcy sounded scary so went for the latter option.
All the letters went off over the xmas period and acceptance letters recieved and interest stopped from all but natwest, i sent a reminder letter to them yet received nothing however ive been paying them the proposed offer every month regardless. Recieved a phonecall today from a natwest employee wanting to know what what going on with my account as the interest and charges natwest have been pilling on have taken the account over the limit hence reaping more charges. I explained the whole situation to them and basically got told that because my account has only just gone over the OD limit then natwest has only just become aware that i am in a financial mess regardless of the letter i sent them in december explaining my financial problem and asking for all interest to be stopped. Natwest have basically ignored the letter and carried on regardless adding interest and charges as they see fit.
Now im considering bankruptcy as my finalcial situation is no better, my personal/health situation is getting worse daily due to the stress and worry of it all and starting again (even if i am blacklisted) seems to be the only way to end all this. Is bankruptcy really as bad as it sounds?

Hi Chilli
Whilst bankruptcy is certainly not something to be entered into lightly it probably isn't as scary or as bad as people think it is. The actual process can be quite striaght forward, although obviously the implications can be quite long term. You might be better posting on the bankruptcy subboard as the people on there can point you to the right information and tell you of their own personal experiences - http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.php?f=136
Good luck whatever you decide.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0
