How much off wedding reception cost?

It's a pretty sizeable country house hotel with lots of grounds. Absolutely gorgeous. I know it is pricey, but in the area it is far and away the best location and all the other places, although not as good, are a similar price.
Any thoughts on how much I could realistically get off the price?
I am booking Chatsworth House a very large country house, i have booked barns etc for half what you are paying. No disrespect but it is not going to get much better than the duke and devonshire' s home. Personally i think someones having your pants down and i do mean your future wife0 -
Don't be afraid to ask for discounts, the amount of money you are paying is huge and they should compromise a little in order to secure you for a particular date. It will be in their interests to have their venue booked for the date you want.
We have just booked our wedding venue and it was £7,500 all in for all 21 rooms (normally £165 a night min) 3 course meal and canopes and disco in a lovely cotswold hotel. Almost all of our guests can stay with us and breakfast the next morning is also included. There is also a travel lodge within walking distance and the venue is happy for those guests to join us next morning for breakfast too for £3.50 a head extra.
We asked for a discount if we paid the total amount upfront and they knocked £185 off, all these things can add up. I also just ordered my dress as the bridal shop was launching a new collection and was offering 15% discount on all orders placed that day and got the dress I wanted and saved a little too.
We got a late availabilty package, we are getting married in january 2011 but could have got married end of august if we thought we could be ready.
Have a look for late packages, these venues want to make as much money as they can and so are willing to offer a cheaper price to ensure that they are booked on that day. I know that this can be risky and you may have decided on a particular date but for us we feel that we are having the wedding we want at a good price and not compromising on the day.
Do they offer late packages for dates this year? if so they may still be offering deals next year and you could look for your dress and other things without setting the date until closer to the time.
I hope that whatever you choose you have a lovely day!!! xx0
