End of 2 year tracker

Hi

I bought my first house back in 2008. I initially got the mortgage sorted out in march or april but i didnt finalise the sale untill september and i started paying my mortgage in october.

The mortgage was one of those 2 year tracker after which it goes to a variable rate. I was paying the mortgage and aparently the 2 years has finished up even though the mortgage only came into affect in october. Is this correct? Do the 2 years generally start from when you get approved or from when you start paying? I didnt expect the 2 years to be up untill october. Any advice would be appreciated.
