Good morning everyone,
Well as of 11 minutes ago, hubby and I were discharged. I am so excited that I am having trouble typing this (could be the Smirnoff tho!)
A quick re-cap, we went BR on 11th May 09 in Sunny Blackpool (not) As with most people we never saw a judge. The experience at court was a little nerve wrecking but to be honest it was more boring than worrying. We were also sat like a pair of drowned rats as it poured down on our way from the car to the court.

A few days later came the bit I was most fretting about – the OR interview. I made the mistake of letting hubby go first so I had to sit there pouring more fresh tea and watching his facial expressions :eek:
Our case was quite straight forward but tracking back so far was quite difficult not to mention upsetting when we had to drag up the period of time when we lost our home mainly due to my back injury. There was no doubt that the OR realised we were doing the right thing mainly because we had been with payplan for 6 years previous to BR and clearly our debts were not even being dinted. We worked out that we would probably be six feet under by the time we were completely clear and that was not a relishing prospect so here we were.
Oh how we wish we had done this years ago – that is the only regret. Maybe had I found this forum years ago, then we would still have our home but I keep telling myself not to look back.
The interviews took a couple of hours and at least 10 t-bags and 20 cigs but I have to say that the OR was fab. He was very calming and even managed to have a bit of a laugh over how much teenagers cost to feed. He told me there and then that I could keep my beloved ford focus and that our SOA’s were very clear. He even helped me to work out a proper cost for dental/pescriptions etc. He said at the time that he did not envisage an ipa put it was a possibility once he had reviewed the expenditures. He also said that we would not get ED due to a recent credit (doorstep) that we had took out for xmas 08. I wasn’t that mithered about that, I just did not want an ipa as I wanted to just let go on AD and not have to dwell on for another 3 years.
That was it, apart from hubby getting a nil tax ipa, we have never heard anything else whatsoever from the OR. I am soooo relieved that from today we have a fresh start
We were supposed to be going out for tea tonight but as per usual we have little dosh so it is going to be a nice tea at home for the family. Nevermind there is plenty of time to make up for it.

We are lucky as we are both in quite good jobs but I am now going to start applying for better paid ones so that we can actually start to save up and enjoy life a little.

To everyone going thru BR and who hasn’t fallen asleep reading this, you will get there. Sometimes it seems like you are falling and you will never get up but you definitely will. BR is just a process that sometimes has to be gone thru due to unforeseen circumstances and it is absolutely nothing to be ashamed of. Just enjoy not being in debt and you will see the light at the end of the tunnel
Finally I know this is said a lot but I just want to repeat it. THANK-YOU firstly to Martin Lewis for this site and secondly to everyone on here for all your help and support. I would never have sorted my life out if it wasn’t for you lot on this forum and the never ending help that you give.

Hi there and welcome. AD stands for automatic discharge. If you see ED that means early discharge

Nice to see that `forward thinking` attitude is giving you motivation to make a good future.

...thats has just reminded me that there used to be an `abbreviations` thread somewhere...I thought it was a sticky but seems to have gone.

Just shout if you don`t know.....I still struggle with abreviations too;)
