    Hi All

    My first post here.

The problem I have is I work full time in London and commute daily. I leave the house at 6.30am and get home about 6.45pm. Once dinner is done, washing up, prepare salad etc for the next day Im ready to chill...well at the moment I knit for a friends baby lol
Can someone help me to get some impetus to do more housework every night?
OH may put things in the dishwasher (not start it up) but not much else. He is a shift worker and works 4 days on 5 days off.

Sorry if the wrong place to post.

    thank you

newroadahead - welcome to the thread - I have sent you a pm with a few tips.
we have others who commute and work long hours too - there is no easy answer but I would suggest that you try to do a little each night - even if itsd just 30 mins so that you havent got loads to do at the weekend and you can relax - also training your DH is always a good idea:D

I'm still working :(... and I haven't even had to commute today. Went for a run at 8 this morning and seem to have been stuck at my desk ever since... Need to try to get this stuff finished tonight as it's driving me insane and I have one more paper to finish AFTER this and then I can finally start sorting my presentation out for next week... (oh... and my BA flight can't be rebooked as they haven't finished negotiating about the strike, so I need to prepare to get stuck in Italy on the way back from Bulgaria as by the time its sorted out it'll be too late to reschedule anything... must call the italian office tomorrow and see whether they can book me some meetings...)

    Rhubarb and Ginger jam

2 1/2 lbs trimmed rhubarb, chopped
    2 1/2 lbs sugar
    4 oz crystallised Ginger, chopped
    1 oz root ginger
Juice of one large, or two small lemons
    • Mix the chopped rhubarb, sugar and lemon juice in a large bowl and leave overnight. You can do it carefully in layers if you want or just mix it all round like I do now!
    • The next day, bash the ginger root slightly with a rolling pin, and then tie it in a piece of muslin to make a bag.
    • Put the rhubarb mixture into a preserving pan with the muslin bag and bring to the boil. Boil rapidly for 15 minutes.
    • Remove the muslin bag, add the crystallised ginger and boil for a further 5 minutes or until the rhubarb is clear.
    • Test to see if it's ready by leaving a small amount of the jam mix on a cold plate. Push your finger through it and if it wrinkles then it's ready for the set.
    • Take the pan off the heat and skim the surface with a slotted spoon. Pot into sterilised jars and cover the jam.
This is a lovely deep pink jam with just a background heat of ginger. Subtle and not over powering. Makes about 3lbs. You can swap preserved ginger for the crystallised if you have any.

Gorgeous gorgeous day yesterday - was really sunny and warm. Perfect gardening weather which was lucky as my MIL was over trying to control the weeds. I have thousands of bluebells in the garden and my lilies are all up and looking healthy which is fab.

Love to all and hope everyone has a good day. With love, light and

    • Feed tadpoles.
    • Answer/clear 30 mins of emails
    • Ring SW re date
    • Ring OT about help
    • Dentist appt
    • Try and eat twice today and keep it down.
    • Brush the cat when she gets on the bed next to me.
    • Look up disabled accommodation in Taunton

    Good Morning All

Busy day today, you have to put the country to rights:D; maybe a flylady policy list for Cameron (and Clegg), we'll let them do level 1s for a few weeks but then they've got to pull their finger out or LW and Toots will be flinging things at them and PM (Prime Motivator) Pigpen will be sent in .

Welcome Newroadahead. Health and energy vibes for Lady-L, Diva,Toots and Lamewolf and any other poorlies. Special thoughts for Boddy and her GGD. Well done JoJo and Carol.

No flying done yet apart from bed made and DW unloaded, tea being decluttered.

Woke in night with a bad dream, the Queen is coming to Lemanie-land on the 20th (which is nice of her to return the visit so soon, we only popped to see her at Windsor a month ago :D), and I woke with my heart pounding and a cold sweat because I had NOT been doing my flylady list and the house was a real mess and the doorbell rang and there she was :eek:.

Going to get on with my list today :D
