I have practically non existent eyelashes and the few I do have jut straight outwards :~(
Soooo with my £5 no7 voucher ,I treated myself to some eyelash curlers .......
Ummmm ,I dare not use them ..
Every time I move them towards my eye ,I involuntarily moved my head away  They look like an instrument of torture and I am totally convinced they will suck my eyeballs straight form their sockets
Does anyone have any tips ?

Ah Bless love. I wear contact lens so am used to poking my fingers in/around my eye. The curlers are not going to hurt you I promise and they will make a difference. Try sitting with your elbow resting on a table so you are steady. Slot upper lashes between the clamp and close gently. Practice will make perfect

It does takes practice, you do need to keep still or at least learn to move your hand at the same rate as your head!
The real key to getting a good curl is to press as you move down the eye lash (from root to tip) and curl it upwards as you do so- you only need to hold for a few seconds at a time per curled part,
Here are two youtube videos that may help.

They do look mediaval in their design but I have used mine for a good 13 years now and the only tip i have is ...... wait until you have curled your eyelashes before applying mascara. Other wise they may stick as I found out when I was 13..... you live you learn! But as long as you dont make that mistake they are straightforward and very good at making short eyelashes look amazing!

The other option is a pair of heated eyelash curlers which look less like torture instruments - I have a pair like these - which are really easy to use and avoid the problem you described (which I also had to a lesser degree). I don't use them much now as I've graduated to the even more insanely vain (and expensive) eyelash extensions however they were very easy to use and gave good results.

Just curl the ends (Hold for about 50 seconds) Then the middle (for a min or so).. They curl just as well that way, instead of going to close to the eye, (pinching your skin hurts lol) The key is the length of time you hold them for not really where on your lashes, also the more often you do curl the easier they will. So curl everyday!

I have a decent pair of eyelash curlers & they really curl the lashes on one eye, but they don't work on my other eye. The lashes still remain pointing down over.
Is there something I'm doing wrong & does anyone have the same problem?0 -
I always warm my eyelash curlers, either on the radiator in the winter or a blast with the hairdryer the rest of the year. I find it takes less time to curl lashes if they are warm.
thedevilmademedoit - This happens to me sometimes and I have absolutely no idea why! I only buy the cheap curlers from Wilkinsons as I havent yet found a curler that you can get spare rubbers for easily and cheaply.0 -

Normally eyelash curlers have variety of forms and shapes with colors but the result out come will always be the same. But for you I like to suggest is, either you buy the high quality eye lash curlers with instructions or find a well known expert.0
