"Arrangement to pay" on mortgage

I hope someone can help.... just over 2 years ago I took some time off work due to illness - just over 6 months. At that time, I made an arrangement to pay my mortgage as I needed to fund some private medical treatment.
Now I'm looking to move within the next year and have obtained copies of my credit files etc. I'm really upset that these arrangements to pay are being viewed pretty negatively on there! My mortgage provider did not tell me that my credit would be adversely affected and now I don't know what to do. It isn't showing on my experian file, but is on equifax and call credit. I never simply stopped paying etc, I called them just like they advise and they agreed to take a lower payment for a short period of time, that's all. Since then I have made this 'underpayment' up as well.
Can anyone give me some advice? I am really careful to pay bills etc on time and manage my credit well so I feel really disheartened by this.
Thanks:(

I agree that they should have done, but ultimately they are reporting factual information to the credit reference agencies. The full payment wasn't made for a period of time.
It's the truth, isn't it?0 -
Oh yes, totally true. However, I did not even think that my credit file would reflect any different from normal if that makes sense? I contacted them in advance, made a temporary arrangement and stuck to it. There were no missed payments etc etc and later on, I made the reduced amounts up - even though this was not part of my agreement with C&G.
Now, when I've spoken to a member of staff at "checkmyfile" I've been told that this is on my file as a straight 'arrangement to pay' which
1. I wasn't aware of
2. Is the same as people who just stop paying for a bit and then try to catch up!0
