Broadband/landline in new house

Hi all,
I am moving house and as it's a new build I have to get BT to sort out the landline which means I am tied in with them for a year.
Currently I'm with UTV Talk for both phone and broadband at £26.50/month or thereabouts total which gives me free off peak calls to the uk and ROI landlines (this is great as I have friends in both Dublin and England).
I was just wondering if anyone knows what the best deal for broadband is for new customers at the moment (can't move the utv broadband contract to another address) and whether there were any similar offers to UTV Talk's that would work on a BT line?
I'd thought the talktalk offer would be great but unfortunately I can't do that as I have to keep the BT landline for a year.
Any info would be appreciated, thanks!

I would suggest BT broadband in your scenario as you can get free calls to uk & roi with their broadband talk option which is free with their broadband.0

wanadoo are very good we paying 17.99 a monthlove you lots like jelly tots0

tesco are fantastic, i cant reccommend them enough! you can pickup the install cd and tarriff guide in stores, its £17.98 pm for the standard package but only £14.98 for the first year if you take their home landline (which is free).
the good thing about the tescos package is they dont limit downloads and you get a free modem, access to newsgroups, tons of e-mail addresses etc. also you pretty much always get a higher connection speed than they quote because of their connection ratios.0 -
It's very unclear from the BT website, but I would've thought that 12 month contract only applies to the line rental and not who you choose as your voice call carrier using CPS (carrier pre-selection).
I could be wrong though. It might be best to ask them (although my guess is that they'll probably lie to you!)0 -
following advice from someone on here last year I took Nildram https://www.nildram.net - check them out
15.99 for Broadband to go - up to 2.5gb a month download with extra at 99p per gb - speed is phenomenal - 6mb is what I am getting in Bangor, and I have just signed up for voice calls - 400 free minutes to UK landlines for no additional cost.
If i want to call a mobile or other number I override or use skype out on my PC.
Nildram are Pipex owned, mainly commercial, never seen them advertised and if their helpline is busy they call you back!!
Really cannot fault them.John0 -
check out tiscali. up to 2mb unlimited broadband and ALL local and national calls free ALL the time for £19.99. OR if you really need 8mb (ie, if you download lots of movies etc, then all the above but with 8mb link for £21.99
2mb broadband and free evening and weekend calls is just £14.99.
Cheers0
