mortgage protection

i have this on my flat and its costing nearly £70 a month

its the complete option, sickness, accident & employment.

well i leave a job due to redundancy at the end of next week and its my higher income of two jobs- anyone been able to claim on the unemployment part of their cover in this scenario.

OR thinking to save a few quid to downgrade to just sickness and accident while my income is low.

tho thinking about it while i've 2 part-time jobs it maybe a waste of money having the unemployment cover cos I'd have to be bl00dy unlucky to loose both jobs at the same time.

any thoughts?

If you are working part time you're not unemployed. So most (perhaps all) of these policies won't pay out if you lose one of your two jobs.

The question for you now is do you keep the cover just in case you lose the remianing job too.

Question: were you sold the policy or did you buy it without advice, and if you were sold the policy did you have two jobs at the time?

If the seller knew you had two jobs at the time there is a strong case for a mis-selling complaint unless it was made overtly clear that the policy would not pay out if you lost one of your two jobs.

If such a complaint is upheld you could expect to get the premiums refunded from the redundancy part of the plan.

i was working 2 jobs when i got the policy yes, never thought to ask was too hyped up about owning my own property.

my other job is as safe as it can be (i'm a nanny - my 3day job has ended because he's off to school, i've been told that my other job want to keep me when their youngest goes to school in setp 2011)

i might have to try the mis-selling idea, its gotta be worth a letter!

    thank you
