Investing in Royal Mint Coins

Options
Off and on royal mint does special promotions.Usually sell a 5£ coin for £20. These are mostly limited edition coins.
Just wondering how good these coins are as an investment. Can one expect a good return in say 5 years time.

    There's a Queen Mother Centenary £5 from 2000 on eBay that sold for £4.99 + £2.72 p+p, another at £4.25 + £1.95 - so I'd say the answer is "No".
loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.

No, too many are minted so there is no demand or scarcity value.

They are the coin equivalent of those modern plates people collect to stick on the wall; although marketed as 'collectables' that's only because some people like collecting them from new. They have no real value and do not increase in value, in the way that genuine antique coins or plates do.

It is JUST possible maybe in a 100 years time someone will pop up on Antiques Roadshow 2110 and be told it's worth a few quid as early 21st century kitch memorabilia.
