Incorrect Credit File info- Please HELP!

I got my experian file this week and it has lots of info incorrect.

For starters- it says my Orange mobile account has had 9 over due payments in last 30 months, was settled in 2005..when i closed it in 2003!! Have tried to call but cant get through without an Orange mobile number, what else can i do?

Also, i have settled 4 accounts recently but these are not up to date....

Do i need to contact all agencies and tell them to update files?

Also, i had good credit score til i made too mnay searches in last 9 months, now its awful......

I am now going to not make any for 12 months and sort out all accounts, will this then improve score???..as me and OH want to look at getting mortgage next year when debts paid off and deposit fully saved.

Not sure about other stuff, but credit checks only stay on for 6months, then they fall off, so 12 months without any more should be ample to see an improvement! :)

Suggest you write to Orange to ask for proof of late payments, but also raise a notice of dispute with Experian who will also contact orange on your behalf and ask them to verify the data

accounts can sometime take 6-8 weeks to be updated, if it is longer than this same process as above applies

with regards to searches, they will stay on file for 12 months,. but most lenders only evaluate the number of searches in the last 6 months.

  • Thanks for your help this, should i raise notice of dispute in letter? As i can't see place to do it from the online site....
  • They hide it well on the credit expert site!, use this link to generate a query,
