Sorry to bump such an old thread, but someone just mentioned to me that since my house has no bathrooms, no kitchen etc at the moment I shouldn't be paying council tax, is that right? It's been that way for over a couple of months now, and will be like it for another month plus as well. Worth a call do you think?

If the house is undergoing major or structual repairs then you may be eligible for a Class A exemption for a maximum of 12 months or a 6 month Class C exemption if it is unoccupied and unfurnished.
I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.

Go for an appeal if you are not exempt... my experiences might be of help to you... https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2223257

Thanks dfarry, only just caught your reply sorry, but thought I'd mention this anyway:

I still haven't moved in the house, and I've just been given a full council tax refund! This will apply for 6 months, so I still have another couple of months left, by which time I'll hopefully be moved in and living there anyway.

For what it's worth it was super easy, super easy! I'm getting an inspector out but with no kitchen or bathrooms right now the lady said there really won't be a problem.

So anyone else in a similar position, go for it!
