Egg & mint woes

Hi all i know firstly that no creditor has to stop the interest on a dmp but what can i do about a creditor that is charging high amounts of interest & charges each month & all the letters i have sent them requesting it ( at least 3 each) have been ignored even sent recorded. My debt is increasing so very much and im so fed up with it :(

Hi tixy its through payplan who also have written to them as well but they never respond. I just phoned Mint ( i hate doing it) who said my account has been terminated & the DMP agreeded to & it will in the next few day be passed over to the in house debt collections department who will make a decision on interest. Is this a good thing? im now worried that the in house debt collecters will start harrasing me. Both Egg & MINT have agreed to the DMP but they just wont stop interest which i know they dont have to x

That might well be a good thing, they might be more likely to stop interest (and they can't charge anymore). Fingers crossed.

They shouldn't hassle you, maybe a letter or 2 to start, just send them to Payplan.

If you were self-managed I heard of someone dropping their payments a little worked (obviously not recommending it ;) but did hear it worked for them).

    Thanks Tixy.

I have just worried myself now. Have you ever heard of the in house debt collectors refusing the DMP?

or is this all standard procedure. I just feel its taken a long time to get creditors to agree to the dmp & after googling it seems mints in house people are nasty (triton) & will try and bully me in to paying more :(

    Hi funky

    I wouldn't worry too much.
You have to remember its probably only the people who have found titon difficult who have bothered to mention it on a forum. I'm sure there are plenty of people who haven't had much hassle from them who therefore have nothing to comment on.

You are doing a DMP with Payplan (who the banks recommend) and all your creditors have accepted the DMP so it would seem likely that, although there are no guarantees, that they will accept as well.

If they do get difficult, don't allow them to bully you, just keep remembering that what you are giving them is their fair share.
