Anybody having any trouble with the two pack VAX cleaners?

I bought the two pack of vax cleaners from the Empire catalogue and I am having nothing but trouble with the pull along cyclinder one. It has terrible suction and I find I have to empty it and bash out the filter with every use. It also blocks where the hose joins the machine if I hoover up anything bigger than a cornflake.
I phoned the VAX helpline and they said that is how it was designed, they have never had any complaints about it before! Is is just mine that is well cr*p. The lady then told me if I sent it back for repair I would be charged. I,ve had it for 8 weeks and have just got round to phoning them because between 5 kids home for sommer hols, and frequent trips to hospital with one with broken leg I have been a bit snowed under.
All responses greatley appreciated even if it is just to say that yours is totally wonderful.

My nan is having problems with one of hers. Not from empire, but possibly the same one (from comet, upright vax £99 get the cylinder free). Vax keep saying that it's the filter, and not a fault with the machine itself. She's sending it off to be fixed, and if they can't find a fault and try to charge her the £25 she said they can "stick it"!!0

I've had mine from Empires about 2 months but found it to be one of the best Vac's that I have used and a bargin too. Much better than the electrolux that I also have that cost 3x's that.0
