For perfect tea (in my opinion), boil the kettle, pour a little into a china teapot and swoosh it around before pouring out. Put in one teabag, add water and let brew for 3 minutes. Swirl the pot gently, pour into a cup already containing a splosh of milk (however much you normally like).

I loathe tea made by dunking a bag into a cup - I'd rather go without.

Coffee I'm less fussy about, but I prefer instant to filtered.

I have a small tea pot for one - me!!

Loose tea instead of bags and a small china cup.

Dont fancy all these "big" mugs etc.

Could it be your kettle? May need descaling or a swish out.

we had a new dishwasher plumbed in and the tea and water was disgusting, had a strong tcp taste about it, lasted two three days. I assumed it was the dishwasher.
But the day isn't right if your tea isn't, you have my sympathy.
From a bag in a mug girl (wannabe teapot girl though..)

That's exactly what I like to do....whatever you do....DON'T stir it! (tip from my late Gran).

And I don't drink coffee so can't help you there :D

HI, WM! I totally agree! A mug doesn't have the volume to make a good cup. It tends, therefore, to extract tannin in preference to the aromatic tea flavours, which makes the drink bitter.

Ageandjo, try investing in a nice teapot. You won't regret it if you like tea! Have you tried Earl Grey? Lovely and refreshing in the afternoon.

I don't like tea or Gold Blend

The best coffee I have found is a filter coffee from Lidl which costs £1.49 for a 500g bag. It's much cheaper than brand name filter coffees, and it tastes lovely!
Here I go again on my own....
