BT and Wescot credit

Hiya
CAN ANYONE OFFER ME ANY ADVICE?
I recieved a bill from BT (which I didn't agree with, but that's another matter) and it has now been passed to Wescot Credit.
The original BT bill was for £171.84, but the Wescot bill is for £214.80 - therefore a £42.96 admin charge.
Can they charge this much for admin? They said it's for letters, I've only had three ???????
I have spoken to Wescot and they have said that BT have charged the £42.96 and not them and said that I will have to contact BT.
Today I offered to pay Wescot the full amount plus £10 admin charges (which I think is fair) they refused to take it.
Please can anyone offer any advice? - Do I have to pay this admin charge?
Thank you
Janet

If you repost in in the Debt-Free Wannabe section there ara lots of people who can help you.You can always get more with a kind word and a 2-by-4 than with just a kind word.0

If you have a genuine dispute bout the bill why not contact BT? Similarly if Wescot have said BT added the surcharge why not speak to BT0

If the debt has been only passed for collection and not assigned then I would point blank refuse to deal with Wescot.
BT will itianlly tell you it is "off of thier system" but stand your ground and tell them you will only repay directly to BT:rolleyes: It’s hard enough remembering my opinions - without remembering my reasons for them :rolleyes:0 -
I have dealt with Westcott whilst managing the probate for a relative who died last year. The outstanding bill had been 'sold' to Westcott, who similarly added admin. charges. They are a nightmare to deal with and will continually ring you and write threatening letters, for which you will be charged.
Whilst you did not have a previous agreement with Westcott, I've been informed that BT are entitled to transfer your debt to a credit agency should debts not be paid within their agreed time.
I had no choice but to pay. I hope you have better luck than me0
