setting up a dmp

Hi I am looking to set up a dmp but am abit worried about the time it would take to set one up I have spoke to Baines and Ernst and they will do it as soon as they receive the first 2 months payments but have warned me I should expect a lot of calls over the first 2 months (don’t mind this just worried about them calling my work as it’s a call centre)
On the other hand there is the cccs obviously this is the better option as its free but again I am worried that they would take some time to set it up so I was hoping someone could advise me if the best way to go for speed and has anyone any dealings with these companies/charities and are they quick at setting up plans thanks.

Hi David, I'm new to this board myself so cant really offer you any advice. Having said that though, I have read many posts and I think the overall opinion would be NOT to pay for any debt services.
The charities are as good as the ones you pay for and they are held in high regard by the people of this board from what I can tell.
As to the calls that you may get while it is all being set up, I believe you can ask people to contact you only by letter. If they ignore this request, they are in breach of OFT guidelines. I dont think they are allowed to call your work and discuss your financial situation either!.
There are many template letters on this board to send to anyone that causes you a great deal of hassle so make use of them if need be.
Sorry I cant really be of any more help than this, but i'm sure someone who is 'well up' on this kind of thing will get on here soon and advise you.

Hi David,
It does not take too long to set up a DMP, if you have all the details of your income, expenditure and debts you can just call our helpline and possibly get straight through for an appointment.
All options would be looked into during your appointment as a DMP is not always the best option for everyone. If a DMP is a good option for you then it could start the 1st of June if we received the paperwork back from you in time.
If you would like an appointment, please call our helpline free on 0800 138 1111.
If you choose not to go on a DMP with the CCCS, then please consider one of the other free organisations such as National Debtline and CAB as your money is better going towards your debts, not to another company.

CCCS is a registered charity, and there is no charge whatsoever for any of the services we provide to our clients. We take great pride in offering first class help and advice, but we only offer this where we have been able to fully explore and understand your circumstances with you. We want to help you understand these choices and their possible implications but not make them for you.
