I am trying to obtain the copy of the original signed credit card agreement. I have been sent a copy of the current agreement (no signature) which is surprising as the card was cancelled in 2005. I have also received a "Reconstituted" copy of the original agreement, again unsigned and a copy of my signature on the application form which has only the signature block and no wordings. I get the impression that the original document is no longer available. I feel that the reconstituted document could be adjusted to say whatever is expedient. What should I now do?

Was the card cancelled but still has a balance or was the account closed and settled in 2005?
As they do not have to provide a CCA for a closed account.

Cancelled in 2005 with balance. This was due to 17 month unemployment.
They are actually saying it is still in force, presumably because of the balance

If there was a balance and it went into arrears because you did not pay, then the credit card would have been defaulted, and it would still be in force it is just the card is cancelled in terms of you cant spend on it. End of the day you owe the money so they can collect it.
As there is a balance you should be able to get a CCA, if they fail to provide it then use NIDs dispute letters - https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2305463
Remember signatures only have to be on the original copy, true copies can omit signatures.
