Argos - item ordered

Hi
I ordered/paid for an item at Argos last Friday. It's one of the ones that are for home delivery only and they told me that the firm would be ringing me and arranging a date for delivery. I was promised I would receive it "within 21 days".
We haven't got to 21 days yet obviously - but I haven't even had a phonecall from them yet to arrange when that delivery will be. (Feeling slightly nervous here - as I can't lay my hands on the receipt for the item to prove that I do "own" it to get a refund if it never turns up......:o).
How long do they normally take before they make that phonecall to arrange delivery? (as I was expecting that they would ring me within a couple of days to arrange when that delivery date is).
If the worst comes to the worst and they prove to have been so inefficient that they have lost my order - how do I go about getting my refund I would be due (as I cant find that receipt anywhere)? I dont know how their system functions - but can tell them the date/approximate time/name of assistant who sold me the item - so know they should have a computer record they can trace that would prove that my debit card has been used (by me) at the time I state for the item I state and they would have to admit this and hand over the refund if need be?

You could use your bank statement in this instance - it will show a debit to Argos on the date you state, and may even manage the time depending on the bank. This shouyld be sufficient.
Never used this sort of service with Argos, but personally I would expect the phone call to come only a couple of days before delivery, so don't panic for a couple of weeks!!What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -
For me ordering a trampoline from them, a few days before the estimated delivery date I got an automated phone call saying that they won't now be arranging delivery for another 5 weeks.
Then a few days later a phone call asking if they could deliver the day after tomorrow.
Shambolics, but got it in the end!
If you phone 0845 640 2020 and provide them with some details i.e. catalogue number, postcode etc. they can usually look your order up and check deliver times.

Thanks both:T
So - I reckon I'll give it a week and, if I've still not heard, then phone that telephone number (0845 - darn! - but if needs must).
Just checked the website to see what they have to say about this item - as to whether its gone out of stock since I ordered it. Result - still in stock okay and they say "will be delivered currently within 14 days" (ie next week then).0 -
From previous experience of ordering a bed,i had a phone call a couple of days before delivery to see if i would be in and then i had a phone call from the delivery driver on the actual delivery day to say he was only half an hour away.I was quite impressed with my argos service.0

They can't give you a delivery date until it's in their warehouse (distribution centre) ready to be delivered so as squiggles said you'll probably get a call a couple of days before to arrange a date.
If they said 21 days then don't expect the phone call until day 19.0 -
ceridwren: if you end up needing to call argos, there is a geographic number listed as alternative to 0845 640 2020 on the website https://www.saynoto0870.com.
it is 01785 710253 :money:0 -
I had a friend who waited over 3 weeks for a 14 day delivery
They phoned Argos to complain and made them refund the delivery charge
The item was also delivered the following week0
