Hi Everyone,
Im a new DFW and have been reading these threads for about 2 months now, i wanted to introduce myself and thank all DFW's for such informative threads. Along with the CCCS ive made the first jump and feel 110% better about our situation.
You can see below in my sig my current debt situation which is shared between me and my OH, unfortunately all but 2 are in my name
Ill tell you briefly about me! Im 27 and living with my other half, no dependants however my OH has 2 children from his previous marriage. We got in to trouble in Jan this year when he came out of regular work, hes self employed and work dried up! i work full time however my wage doesnt cover all bills and debts so overdrafts were used and 2 credit cards however we didnt think that the dry patch would last so long and i got to the point where i had my lightbulb moment.
Something had to change, i called CCCS and had to wait for 4 weeks until my appointment, as it was only unsecured consumer debt we had i that we were in arrears with i was advised to call all creditors and explain situation and offer token payments of £1 until id had my meeting. I did that and i dont think ive ever felt so low. I felt like dirt and all were great apart from one creditor which made me feel how i did. It took some doing to try and remain positive and when i finally had my meeting i could actually smile again.
I was advised that because my oh was not earning regular money i am only able to make token payments to the creditors, Ive sent a letter to them all and unfortunately im gettin letters back refusing the token payment but im remaining positive about it afterall they cant have what we aint got. Ive wrote to them all today asking them to re-consider my offer as i have every intention to pay monies owed, things are starting to look up now for my OH job and hope to contact the CCCS in the next month to arrange a repayment plan. I wait with bated breath for my letters to answered!!!
Anyway thats abit about me n my situation, sorry its so long but i hope to stick around here and get our money problems in control.
Thanks for reading!!

Thanks for your support everyone, im just waiting for the responses to my letters now! i dont hold much hope of them accepting my token payment so i suppose im prepared for that.
Ive sent them all a cheque today for the token payment, 2 of my creditors wont accept it but i wonder if they will still cash the cheque.
anyone else still sent the payment even though they have said they wont accept it ??0 -
These payments are better than nothing at all and in my experience they will certainly bank them. CCCS will inform you to continue to make token payments before any Debt Management Plan is set up. Creditors can take anything up to 6 weeks to reply. This is a really tough time as they will ring you constantly throughout this period, and sometimes even after they have agreed. Hope you are succesfull in your future plans
Good luck, you have loads of support on this site;)0 -
