I dont think they will outright sack you, they would probably not take you on full time after the prob. period is up

If you want to go back maybe keep in contact once a week with a phone call to keep them informed on you're progress, it might keep them sweet a bit if you show willing

if you are well enough then do that as it would be a shame to lose the job if you like it xastonsmummy wrote:Thanx, my docs ave signed me off for a month but i dont ant to stay off that long, might just go back on monday and forefit this weeks pay as it's quite a cushy job xx

If you are still officially signed off you will need to get your GP to sign that you are fit to return to work. Otherwise, it could cause all sorts of insurance complications for the employer.
Good luck! xGone ... or have I?0 -
Your employer will probably be impressed and likely to keep you on if you make efforts to get back to work asap. If you don't, sorry to be blunt, but one reason so many companies have probationary periods is so they can get rid of such employees with the minimum of fuss.0

As an employer I would probably just tell you its not working out and pay you a couple of weeks wages, or at the very least extend the probation period for another 6 months.
Companies these days do not take on the overhead of new employees unless its absolutely essential and they cannot afford to carry people on long term sick straight after starting .. even big companies.
Not what you want to hear, but the sad truth.0 -
Have to agree with Raymond here. Astonsmummy, put yourself in the place of the employer - would you want to take a risk on someone who has taken off sick twice in the first two months? You will need to have a perfect record for the rest of your probation period and hope that someone puts in a good word for you to stand any chance of being made permanent. Sorry for sounding so blunt.0

Thanx for all your replies, no none of you sound harsh - honesty is the best policy, the carpal tunnel has gone now, i couldnt of done anything anyway as i work in an elderly mental institue (care home)
I think i'm going to phone docs today and ask him to change the sick note for one week but i dont think he will (i took an OD on sunday night and eneded up in hospital)
I think i might just look for another job while i'm off, i've never been off work like this before (have'nt worked for 3 years due to being a SAHM)
I need to stay in work tho or i'll be financially in the dog house!
TBH they arent really a good place to work and seem to have a very high turnover of staff from what i heard.
thnx again xx:j Baby boy Number 2, arrived 12th April 2009!:j0 -
Good luck with everything astonsmummy. You just need to concentrate on getting yourself well at the moment for your little one. Take care xxIf you don't have something nice to say don't bother saying anything at all.0
