Credit report?!?!

Hey friends!
My boyfriend recently got a copy of his credit report as it was baffling me how he had been refused a contract phone!
He took out a loan in 2008 and defaulted on it in 2009, this is his only debt, he has a regular wage going into his bank and is never overdrawn as i tend to manage his accounts!
The only reason i ask is we wanted to get a bigger family car and take out a small amount of finance but as he cannot even get a contract phone i highly doubt he will get finance!
The only thing i have noticed is that his electoral roll address says he lived in his address until 10/2008 even though he is still here!
Could this be the problem?!!?

A default is quite serious and could on its own be enough to stop him getting new credit (even a phone contract).
That said I would still get the electoral roll information updated as this certainly won't be helping.
Has the defaulted loan been paid off yet?A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
I agree the default is one step below a CCJ and would be sufficient for you to be declined for credit.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies0 -
Thanks Tixy!
No im in the process of sorting it as we are moving in together soon n sorting all debts out! The problem is he took the loan out for 10,000 pounds for a family member who stopped paying! So he paid some and then couldnt afford it as it included ppi of around 40 per month. My boyfriend asked for this to be taken off on several ocasions but dusnt think it was!
Problem is, it was whilst he was in the army and now hes out and at home he has nothing about the debt so doesnt know how long ppi was on for etc and dusnt no how much to offer as the balance is now 12,000 pounds!0
