Vending Machine Business

Hi all,

Ive been looking at vending business ideas for the past few days...they seem to be huge in the States but im not so sure here. Id be focusing on the smaller machines - handful of M+M's for 20p sort of thing.

Anyone done this, was it worth it?

Was discussed on here at length a while ago, and the general opinion was it's not worth it.

Someone selling the idea can make the figures sound really good, but the fact is people just don't use them.

I've seen those machines all over and just don't 'get' them. who buys sweets by the handful? You have to just chug them down, your hands would get all sticky, god knows how old and stale they might be. Never seen anyone buying them.

It's funny that the question of who buys these sweets has been brought up - I never really do, but the other day there I bought a 20p Gumball and a handful of Minstrels for 20p... I did worry about my hands getting sticky, how old they may be - and also the clenliness of the machine, in particular, the place where the sweets fall into, but I had been drinking and I wanted minstrels! :D

Although, for what you get, it is overpriced - I just can't see the profits being high though. You'd have to have lot's of them at prime locations to make anything I imagine, then again, they wouldnt be there if they didn't bring in the money!

How would one go around starting one of these businesses up?
