change mortgage deal on benefits?

I get the interest paid on my mortgage at the moment by the DWP, as i've been seriously ill an unable to work. I am currently on the SVR with HBOS and am thinking about switching to a tracker or fixed rate, possibly with a different lender.
I just wondered if anyone knows if this would present a problem for the DWP or if it's easy for them just to set up a new direct debit for a different lender. If i lost that benefit, it would be impossible for me to pay my mortgage.
I'm not even sure if i'd be able to switch to a tracker or fixed as i'm only receiving benefits. May be stuck on the SVR (currently 3.5%) until i get back into work again.

I doubt very much you could change lender in that situation.
You'll probably have to just stick with the options your current lender has to offer.0 -
3.5% is not a bad rate to be stuck on!
hope your health improves soon and you can get back to work
best of luck0
