Good afternoon all, hope everyone is having a lovely Thursday
I've added this in the Diarys page but thought there was no harm in writing in here too and see if I can get some kind of response.
Basically, in order to pay the minimum of my credit card this month I need to find £117.19 in 2 weeks (due date is 21st May)
Below is what I'm going to try:
Send old mobile off to be recycled for cash
Sort through and ebay old clothes
Sell old dvd's / CDs (would like advice on best place to do this)
Take bass guitar and tv/dvd combo to cash converters
Collect all my pennies around the house
Is there any other way to get any sort of money before then? If so, please PLEASE let me know! (without the obvious of borrowing more)
Thanks a bunch :j

Hiya,
Well done on setting yourself a challenge! Just a thought but if you need the money soon (i.e within two weeks) you may be better off selling your clothes at a car boot. That way you get to take home the cash on the day! Plus you could sell other stuff too (that you wouldn't have listed on ebay) at a car boot. Mobile phones sell well also.
Sometimes I know it take a while for auctions to end and for buyers to pay up. Plus with a car boot if you come back with any items you can still ebay them afterwards!!! Also ask family and friends if they have any stuff they want to 'donate' to your car boot to boost your earnings.
You never know you might even reach your target in one day!
Also it may be a little late but I know that lots of councils need 'vote counters' for the ballot papers this evening! Think that pays £60 for the evening. Maybe worth a call to your council.
Also around this time of year high schools/colleges are looking for invigilators for GCSE/A Level exams. Its also a pretty good wage for sitting in silence
Hmmm....there's lots of things you can do to boost your income.
Any old gold necklaces? lol The price of gold has sky-rocketed so that's a good earner!
If you're looking to get into boosting your income more longer term then there's plenty of job boards that have temp evening work. An extra 5 hours per week is £100 in your pocket!
What area of the country are you from roughly? North/South? Nearest city? I used to work in recruitment so I can point you in the direction of job boards that usually have some good evening/weekend/work from home jobs.0 -
Hi Sarah
Check if your old mobile might make more on ebay.
Could you do a carboot sale?
Are you planning to sell your bass guitar and tv or put them on the buyback scheme? If you are selling I would imagine you would get a better price elsewhere (maybe gumtree?)
Any odd jobs you could do for anyone to earn any extra money? eg babysitting, gardening etc for friends & neighbours?
Is this just a short term problem this month or an ongoing one you are likely to have every month? If its just this month then you may be able to raise the money but if you cannot meet your repayments every month then you may need to consider other options (such as paying reduced payments, perhaps through a DMP).A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Thanks for the replies!
I didnt even think about doing a car boot sale! I did one aaages ago when we moved and I made a nice little profit out of that.
My dad has said he might have some stuff which I can pick up when I see him Saturday so might look into this tonight and see if there are any about on Sunday morning (so much for the one lie in of the week lol!)
As for working extra hours, I'm currently doing 10 hour days (I also work in recruitment) and I dont think I could mentally or phsyically handle doing even an extra 30 minutes!
So, would you guys think I would get a better deal for my tv/dvd and guitar on somewhere like gumtree rather than cash converters?
This is only a short term problem as I'm usually a month behind on payments for CC and this month I really want to try and get things done on time so I can finally start moving forward next month:j *~* 2011 - TRY TO GET CREDIT CARD AS LOW AS POSS BUT STILL HAVE FUN *~* :j0 -

What do you have to do for £20 an hour ?0 -
Car boots are definitely better for some things than ebay. You might get more money for your tv and guitar if you try advertising on local noticeboards for a week or something (wilkinsons, local newsagents etc). Please don't take them to cashconverters.... you won't get anything for them.Became Mrs Scotland 16.01.16

I have already got £11.24!

I counted all the pennies around the house so going to put that in the bank tomorrow
I only thought of cash converters as its literally around the corner...
I'm going to do some research on car boots either later tonight or tomorrow.
I have also received a pre-paid envelope for envirophone and they said they will give me £17 for my old nokia (i've searched around and it seems to be the best price rather than ebay etc) and its guarenteed...
The OH has also said he will give me money if I keep the guitar because he wants to keep playing it...
Every little helps I guess

Try the comparison tool for mobile phone recycling that Martin has a link to somewhere on here - or google mobile phone price comparison and it should come up. I used that and was surprised how much more the Royal Mail simply drop scheme paid in comparison to others and it was quick and very easy to use. Had the money in my PayPal within 3 days of posting! Although you have to wait a few days for them to send out an envelope.0

I checked with the price comparison site and the best one was Royal Mail for £14.50 where Envirophone will pay me £15.28 so I'm going to send it off to tehm as I already have the envelope:j *~* 2011 - TRY TO GET CREDIT CARD AS LOW AS POSS BUT STILL HAVE FUN *~* :j0

lol sorry Bunny999. Thats just roughly £100 per month after tax if you do an extra 5 hours per week (at min wage)
Of course as the OP has said, she does long days already so an extra job wouldn't be possible.0 -
I posted my phone on ebay last night with a starting price at £15 because thats what i've been quoted to recycle it, and its already at £24!! I wasnt expecting that at all and wouldnt have even thought twice about ebaying it so now I'm very glad I have.
11 hours left...
