yep as ever the first place to start is the SOA (statement of affairs) http://www.makesenseofcards.com/soacalc.html if you fill that in honestly and as accuratly as possible we can try and advise you on areas of your current lifestyle which could have some savings

once we see this we will be able to help you better, so relax, enjoy your date (and you really dont have to go into your financial situation with the perosn on a date) if it comes down to going somewhere expensive just kindly inform them you would prefer somewhere more low key etc (inless they are paying hehe)

on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
    10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
    20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)

First off. Breathe. Getting worked up about it will not help you.

You have come here looking for help and you will get lots of brilliant advice. What you need to do is put up an SOA http://www.makesenseofcards.com/soacalc.html use this link and then post it up here so that people can help you to find where you can make changes, start saving etc.

As regards to your debt, don't let it put you off going on a date. There are many things that can be done for a date without the need to spend money. I got with my other half when I was in debt and I didn't tell him till I felt I needed to as it had nothing to do with him, still doesn't as we live apart and our monies are completely seperate. Tell him that you are just saving money and would like to do cheap/free things.

Cook for him at yours, or go round to his? Go for walks in the park or somehwere nice where you live, go to the beach for the day etc. Those are the things I thought of at the top of my head. The best dates I went on with my other half when we were just beginning to date were all free, and the most romantic dates I have ever been on. Be imaginative, and don't forget to smile. :)

    Hi pink

We all have down days and where better to have a moan about debts than here on MSE.

When you feel a bit better (after a cup of tea or cake - or both!) then start work on your statement of affairs.
Being in debt does not have to stop you dating or meeting a good guy. But if you can start to tackle your debts and get an action plan you should feel less stressed and actually be able to enjoy yourself more. :)
A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who give

  • Hi Pink,

Sorry to hear your're not feeling too great - I was having a day like that yesterday, was frustrated with having no money.

An SOA is the best place to start, so you can see everything you need to do set out in front of you. Once the wheels are set in motion you will feel a lot less stressed out.

P.S. Hope you have a good time on your date - where you off to?
