Hi,
According to my calculations you have £97 pounds a week to spend on food to avoid any more overspending. You will only have this amount if you cut out completely the following:
Pet Insurance
Mobile contract
Lunch
Birthdays
You really are on min. You may need to increase your income if there is not enough food money. you need to keep a record in a debt diary of the amount you spend each week and this must not exceed £97 per week.
The figures were derived as follows:
income weekly monthly
self 2000.00
partner
benefits 69.80
tax credits 45.00
total 0.00 2114.80
488.03 divided by 4.33
488.03 total weekly income
spend weekly monthly
rent/mortgage 587.08
council tax 95.00
elec 25.00
gas 41.81
water 19.59
secured loans 194.62
TV licence 10.00
fines
loan 321.14
dmp 260.23
phone bb calls 65.00
car costs 55.00
mob
mob payg 5.00
tv cost 15.00
total 0.00 1694.47
391.03 divided by 4.33
391.03 total weekly spend
Start= income - spend = 97.00 per week0 -
I was thinking about getting rid of the pet insurance but my only concern is what if something happens? one of my cats was quite poorly last year!
The contract phone is my OH but he needs it for buisness use as he has set up his own buisness (also another reason why we are in this state).
Work lunches we are currently cutting down on and making our own (disadvantage on this is that my partner eats like a horse!!)
Digital we are getting rid of and going freeview instead.
I will be relooking broadband/phone to see if I can get any cheaper too!0 -
Gas seems quite high-I currently pay £35 a month for a 3 bed bungalow with me and 4 children living there-my heating is gas as is the hot water so it gets a lot of use.I have just switched to Ebico so will be interesting to see if they're any cheaper.Definitely look around and see if it will be cheaper elsewhere.Debts Jan 2014 £20,108.34

Hi mondbond007,
your food bill seems high.
we are a family of 5, 2 adults, 2 teenagers (adults), 1 child.
and spend upto £100/w on avarage prob between 85-90 thats mainly shopping at Asda. we can do it even cheaper if we went to Aldi but havn't always got hte time to shop arround.
why dont you try writing a menu for the weeks food and then just stick to that for your ingrediants, it realy hwelps to cut down on the unnescersarry spending..........
good luck!0
