The economy and taxation has hardly been mentioned by any of the parties.
Nor have any of the other issues listed above.
This isn't an election of policy its about who slagged off who the best.
X factor election look at my shiny teeth!!!0 -
I kinda wish we could vote for 2 parties much like we could do for the council elections. I used to support labour but really swayed to UKIP and the conservatives. I am going to vote for the party that gives us the highest chance of getting our labour MP out rather than putting in the one i would like. Its the lesser for 2 evils for the next 4 years.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies0 -
There's 8 different ones standing in Carlisle.
TheStraightChoice.org website only lists 4 leaflets online and I know we've had a lot more than that come through the door.
Labour leaflet slags off the Tories
Cumbria/Carlisle Against Racism slag off the BNP (but dont have anyone standing for them in the election ?)
Carlisle Socialist has two leaflets slagging off rich people
Looking at wikipedia for results of previous elections, it would take at least 6,000 people to change their minds and vote for someone other than Labour to ensure that the labour person didnt get in.0 -
Whats the point in voting, democracy is a delusion in the UK used to pacify the masses into making them think they have some sort of control
We have had a long term of a Tory government and they where pretty terrible and now a long term of Labour and they have been abortional bring us to the brink of bankruptcy.
At best I only agree with 40% of the polices of one party going down to 28% for labour, so no party reflects my views
I live in sevenoaks and no matter who I vote for the Torys will get in as its one of there safest seats.
I seams that even if labour only get 30ish % of the vote they have 50% more seats than the Tories on 30% share of the vote and nearly 3 times the lib dems on 30% of the vote, this is just rediclious and goes to show how rigged the system is with the boundaries etc
no point in voting, my vote makes no difference under this rigged system
the only time i could see the point in voting under this system is if you lived in a marginal seat0 -
I urge people not to vote labour0

This thread is really gonna annoy certain members of the forum who've been moaning about too much politics.
I love it.

Ah well, it'll all be over in a day or two and then we can get back to another 5 years of uninspiring and incompetent leadership.

I think personally the Lib Dems have the strongest tax policy by about a mile, and it's a shame they didn't go all out on making the public aware of this - I think it kind of got 'lost' in the debates, sadly.
If more people were aware of the huge impact it would have on them, I think we'd definitely be seeing a hung parliament, if not a Lib Dem govt.0 -

You think so!?
I reckon you'll need to stock up on chill pills.
The results will bring a whole heap of dissapointment, and no doubt, yet more of that dire tory bashing. I don't mean the normal bashing, I mean the absolute loon stuff.
I tell yer, if Gordon doesn't win, but still stays sat as "PM" I'll never shutup0 -

You never shutup anyway!!!!!!!!!!:D
Seriously, I've been completely unable to get remotely excited about this election, probably for the first time ever.
Finding it dull beyond belief, and an annoying interruption from the important things, like getting on with the recovery.
Makes absolutely no difference who wins, they've only got one way forward anyway.
Limited cuts, tiny tax rises, lots of pay freezes and spending freezes for the public sector, and lots of pro-private sector growth policies, whilst keeping base rates and the pound low and letting inflation do it's work for a few years.
That'll get tax revenue up, reduce public spending and debt in real terms, and lock in the recovery.
As I said, there's really no other choice.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.
Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.”
