Years of address check??

Hi
Does anyone know how many years that banks checks back on you for credit. Reason I ask is had a AIP from Halifax which "A" rating no probs but point blank refused from Natwest.
I check my credit report and the current address I'm at (3 years 2 months) has all my credit super cool - any debts being paid blah blah.
However, my previous address has a couple of defaults.
Could it be that Halifax only do three and Natwest do 5 or 6 years?
Cheers

Generally they ask for 3 years - and tbh your only just over that, at your current address.
The bank I used to work for, would always check the previous address as well, if the length of time was border line.
You say you have checked your credit file at your current address; so what year did you register on the voters roll?
if it is only within the last couple of years, then I'm sure any potential lender would want your previous address as well
You say you have defaults at the prev address, are they paid off? or still outstanding?0 -
It says registered mar 2007.
The previous address shows defaults but only where the creditors have sold the debt off.......but I still pay it every month.0 -

But the fact that Halifax have said yes with an "A" rating for AIP would mean that they must only be looking at three years??0 -
What happens if you've been overseas for a couple of years, or moving around a lot?0

You've passed Halifax automated computer score but often Human underwriters latterly make additional 'hand' searches for other address connections.0

When an AIP used to be done at my place of work, it was just a general quick run through of information.
However, when an application is processed, they do tend to delve a little deeper!
Hence they may decide to check the previous0 -
If they do check the previous and they are not happy with what they see, will they take into account that for three years I've been really good and I also have 40K to put down?
Someone I know was told by the bank that they would only lend the money if an 8K debt was paid off in full!
