Tesco BOGOF on reduced items

I thought Tesco had stopped allowing BOGOF deals on reduced items, but I've just been to the new Tesco Extra in Llansamlet (Swansea) and have bought two fresh pizzas that were reduced from £2.98 to £1.79 - they had BOGOF labels on them that hadn't been covered over with yellow stickers (like Asda are inclined to do) and they went through the till on bogof without a hitch.
This is a very new Tesco store, so it may be that the staff haven't yet cottoned on to this yet, so make the most of it while you can.

i think bogof still applies even if the item's reduced but not the multibuy offers e.g. 3 for £2, etc. last week's shop consisted of king prawns reduced to 2.99 and bogof came off. also purchased bbq pork chops reduced to £1.68 on buy 2 for £5 but no further discount.0

So did I - this is certainly true of cheapskate Asda who place stickers over the BOGOF flash if the items are reduced. Very often, the individual reduced item is more expensive than two (fresh) items on bogof in Asda. I wish I'd bought more cheap pizza in Tesco, now - I thought i'd be pushing my luck if I went back for more.0 -
In tesco's, the BOGOF used to go through the tills regardless of reduction, so say you bought two £3 pizza's reduced to 10p, £3 would still come off. They had to sort this out as people we're getting loads of stuff and then getting to the till and the till would owe them money (lol, and yes they did expect it to be handed over) so that had to be sorted. For a while, BOGOF didn't work on reduced items, but then it started to work again when they got it sorted.0

I don't know if this happens in Tesco, but in Sainsbury's when it is 2 for £3 or whatever, the discount that would have been applied originally comes off the discounted price.
So if each item was £1.99 or 2 for £3, and then were reduced to, say, £1.29 and you bought 2 packs, it would cost 2 x £1.29 - £0.98(original discount) = £1.600
