Making cupcake icing to look like Mr Whippy?

Hello, I'm going to make Mr Whippy cupcakes but don't know what size nozzle I need to make it look like thick swirly icecream. Can anyone advice me please?

I use large food piping nozzles rather than icing ones if that makes sense (like the ones you use for doing fancy mashed potatoes :) )

    This sort of thing: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Faringdon-Plastic-Food-Piping-Nozzles/dp/B0000BVFD1/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=kitchen&qid=1273075457&sr=8-1

Mine are metal though and also don't have a coupler, but I bought them in Germany. You can get ones that do have a coupler and also ones the same size often come as attachments with cookie dough presses like this one http://www2.westfalia.net/shops/household/baking/baking_aids/baking_for_christmas/360313-biscuit_maker.htm

Ooh i've been wondering this too, I bought a big star nozzle, much bigger than the icing ones but I still can't get it right.

I think it's the buttercream, it's always quite thin, how long should I whisk it for? Does anybody have a good recipe for it?

I make buttercream in a food mixer as you have to whisk it for ages. It will change colour and go visably paler when it's done :) I find about five mintues on high does the trick - often more if you do it by hand (plus it's hard to beat constantly)

I did the ice cream cupcakes below and used a wilton 1M nozzle which I ordered online. I also used the same nozzle to do the rose cupcakes below aswell. The ice cream ones you swirl from the outside in and the roses from the middle out to create the different effects.

The recipe I use for butter icing is this one, I just make sure it's not too stiff or it won't look like "Mr Whippy"
