Stock just arrived at Market Harborough today (wed) The guy was just unpacking a crate load. Hundreds of packs of batteries and maybe 60-70 chargers.

The chargers are quite bulky and heavy but look well constructed.

They have loads of them in the Weston Favell store, in baskets next to the checkouts... ;)
Thanks to all who post constructively.

  • The Lidl batteries and charger are OK - and I'm listening to a trannie running on them as I type!

But they're not the best. F'rinstance, you can buy AA batteries with a capacity of 2700 mAh now, i.e. 28% better than Lidl's. Of course, they're a bit dearer.

The charger is a bit old-fashioned now, and I would advise peeps to buy an automatic one, that "knows" when a battery of any capacity is fully charged, so that you neither "overcook" nor undercharge one.

To learn more about rechargeables, you might like to look here:

And Vapextech batteries can be purchased more cheaply from:

I have no connection with the above, except as a very satisfied customer.

Yeh it does that. Swaps from normal charge to trickle charge once batteries are fully charged. (Except for the 9 volt ones)

Make that 2 satisfied customers! I've ordered a few items from this seller and the prices, quality & service are hard to beat :j

    Good call!

Yes, it does swap from full charge to trickle charge, but NOT when the battery is fully charged. It swaps when the time period is up, whether the battery is under-charged or over-charged.

I take battery capacity figures with a pinch of salt. My 1800mAh Olympus ones last much longer than my supposed 2100mAh Uniross ones. And I imagine if you try too hard to get the capacity up, you will compromise in other areas, such as longevity.
Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.

Quite right, too! However, if increased capacity always compromised other aspects of performance, we'd still be on the 500 mAh batteries I started with when my kids were babies. I can only suggest that you read any of the battery pages of the eBayer OneFlewOver... gave the link for.
