Why does everyone want me to pay for the information??

Options
Evening all!!!
I have been trying to find a little homeworking job to try and give me a little bit extra income, I am more or less willing to do anything such as envelope stuffing, proof reading, data entry and so on, problem being every darn website I look at wants me to pay a monthly fee for "the secret" to homeworking:mad:
Surely it can't be so difficult to get a little side line for a lil extra money, I do a few mystery shops and am registered with a few survey sites already but theses don't really provide a lot of money I'm earning probably an extra £15 - £25 a month at the moment.

Does anyone have any idea where I can go or can anyone offer me a job?

Thanks

The thing is, all these jobs don't exist. The only money anyone makes is by selling information on how to get these non-existent jobs.

Then there's the scams, "earn money by data entry" you have to pay for the training materiel but all it is is "Post adverts like the one you answered and collect the money for this information".

The simple rule is "Keep well away from sites that want you to pay up front".

There are ways to make some money at home, just read through this board to find them. Most are very poorly paid tho, so don't get your hopes up. As an example, someone has just claimed that sitting at home. watching the Tv and clicking a mouse for 9 hours, to earn £10.50 is not work.

£1.17 an hour is not pay, if you ask me!

I agree with Geordie Joe, if they want you to pay up front then it's probably a scam anyway! There really is no great secret!

If you're already mystery shopping then maybe that's one way to increase your income - check out the Mystery Shopping thread and make sure you are registered with all the companies listed on the first post.

I don't think proof reading is much good as an option. I've read a few posts on here about that and although lots of people are keen to get into it and there are lots of companies offering to train you (for a fee of course ;)), it seems this kind of work is given to people who already have contacts in the business and it seems to be very difficult to break into.

There are other options like call centre work (but from home). I've seen them listed on here, though offhand I can't remember the names. I think Lionbridge is one, and there's another to do with texts, answering questions. You could try doing a search of the forum, or maybe someone with a better memory than me will come along and tell us.

Have you thought about party plan, say Body Shop, or maybe Avon or Betterware?

Def. forget the proofreading. I work freelance in related areas and I have NEVER known a company outsource proofreading in the way they suggest is possible. Even if they did, 1) a quick correspondence course isn't really training you and 2) how are you going to get those contracts? The nearest I've ever come to just 'proofreading' freelance was a copy-editing job for a government quango, but I got that because I'm an experienced copywriter with lots of experience and contacts. These courses are just scams.

Hmmmmm, surely there must be something legitimate out there though.
I have tried Avon before but found it a struggle getting people to pay for their products, I find mystery shopping to be more hassle than it's worth tbh.
Any ideas would be welcome though thanks

Have you read through a lot of this part of the forum? There are some really good ideas, some work for one person & not another. I know that there is a lot to read but that's probably the best idea so that you can see what you would be comfortable doing.
Have you sold anything you might have lying around the house on ebay?
Most of the suggestions that people can make are already on here.

Don't think I could do the chat line thing, Arise sounds toooooo complicated what with setting up a ltd company thing (even though I'd be great at it!)

Are you looking for something where money is just sent to you and you do not need to do anything?

I am also looking for this role but as yet, no luck!

Have you tried looking on any freelance websites? People per hour is a freelance website where people advertise jobs they are willing to pay people to do, proof reading etc. Maybe you could find some home working job on there. I think you have to bid on the jobs though to have a chance of getting them, also you get feedback a bit like ebay. Which probably means if you have no feedback it will be damn hard to win a job heh. But you could give it a try I suppose
