SlingBox Classic £39.99 using code @ Planet Gizmo

Came across the deal on HotUkDeals.
"Use MAYDAY30 code to get this price.
The Slingbox is a gizmo that connects to both your TV equipment and to a home broadband Internet connection, and lets you watch your home satellite, cable, digital or analogue TV, over the Internet, from anywhere in the world. With Slingbox connected to a UK home TV setup, you can use SlingPlayer (the Slingbox software) to watch TV, change channels, take control and even record on your home TV recording equipment, over the Internet."
Note that it's the original slingbox (so no hd streaming, wireless etc), but still has a very decent spec list and using the Slingbox app you can watch and control your sky tv on your iphone from anywhere in the world. (Great fun scaring the kids by changing the channel remotely!)

As you might not be aware:
I think youll need to have a link to this code and put it in the 'discount and codes section' otherwise it will be removed.

Just wondering....could this work as an alternative to getting sky mulitiroom? i.e. could I watch sky via my laptop in any room in the house as opposed to just the livingroom, as at present?0

Oops! I forgot about that! Will 'move' it over once I have a free minute (Someone else is free to move it over for me as i'm supposed to be working at the moment! :P).
Oh yes, don't forget quidco! (I'm annoyed at myself for missing it when I ordered yesterday!) and it's correct; although you can watch your sky from anywhere in the world (with an internet connection), you can only watch the channel the sky box is on!
Still, a very good product (and great price!) in my opinion!
:) Thanks for all the thanks

Just re-read the first post. Does that mean I can watch whatever is on the sky box in my living room on my iphone wherever I am, provided I am in a wi-fi zone? Sorry, I'm not very technical but am quite tempted.0

Yep that's right
BUT bear in mind (something I didn't realise until after purchasing), the slingbox iPhone app isn't free, so bear that in mind before going for it!
Thanks for all the thanks

If people simply want to watch TV when on their holidays ..... an alternative solution is buying a week or two of a Virtual Personal Netwrok (VPN) service - google is your friend! This simply convinces the beeb and other broadcasters gthat your PC is in the UK when in fact you are in Oz or Majorca or whatever. I pay my licence fee so I have no moral issues .....
You can then watch all the normal stuff ie BBC ITV C4 iplayer etc via their online offerings. So long as you can buy reasonable broadband where you are, but Slingbox needs broadband anyway.0 -
I bought one of these last year from tesco at £79, and have to say I am well impressed. I just use the inbuilt tuner, and can watch whatever I want when on the move.0
