Can anyone point me in the direction of some threads on here / or give me some tips? I have been OS for ages and now have to find about £200 approx to cover a once in a lifetime trip to see my team play in a European final. Finding the money itself is not an issue as I will be taking it from my savings but as I will not be getting a pension and I don't have a rich or indeed any man to take care of me in my old age will be needing to pay my savings account back asap.
I have done a lot of cheap meals lately wth breadcrumbs and pasta from store cupboard etc. There is only me to cook for. I am not veggy and have access to a freezer/fridge/microwave and cooker which I try not to use due to expense.
Have the idea of mainly existing on 9p value noodles as they are quite enough for my appetite and only tend to have one meal a day anyway.(Losing weight will not be a problem if it happens as a sideeffect.)But I get the feeling after several weeks and months on mostly noodles even I as a food is fuel type will get bored.
Thanks x

I'm sure you'll find loads of ideas on the threads. Cheap is fine for a while but don't forget to add healthy if you're sticking to it for any length of time. The dirt cheap noodles with plenty of veg and just a tiny bit of meat in a stir-fry is a good combination. ENJOY THE GAME!!! (I take it you're a Fulham Fan?)0 -

Pink has done you a link for weezl's escapads, as has stressed.mum...
I have to say... you can live incredibly cheaply if you follow these, with amazing variety, which includes all of your basic nutrients and vitamins, with not a 9p noodle in sight0 -
Thanks everyone. Plenty to keep me going there soon as I get time to read it. I am very grateful for all your help. I never stop being amazed by the lovely helpful folks on MSE. xx
A friend of my flatmate suggested cheese on toast but have you seen how much cheese costs these days? I wonder what the student staples are at the moment - a lot of my days ones are a lot dearer now as cheese, eggs, tuna etc are much more costly.
Flicking through a lot of these they do tend to be for more than one person..What Would Bill Buchanan Do?0 -
Do you have any freezer space you could use Reverbe? I think in some ways it's harder to cook for one as often it is cheaper to buy bigger quantities of groceries.
If you have a freezer, good old batch cooking of all the usual suspects is the only thing I could suggest.
I've just thought of chilli in a jacket spud and now I'm hungry....:o
Good luck and enjoy your trip.0
