Can I live off £75/week?

  • £75 seem ok to me, I usually spend around £80 a week, that's around £25 or £30 for food and basic toiletries and the rest on clothes, make-up and socialising. That works fine for me and I guess you should be ok too, but I think you should also have some money put away for emergencies or unexpected expenses etc. I like the idea of telling people that you're saving for something, but to be honest it is your business, if you think you don't want to spend money on something or can't afford to go out, just tell people to count you out of any plans, don't spend money you don't want because of peer pressure

    Hi Debrag

I'm moving so the £180 DMP is based on my previous outgoings, whereas the rest of the calculations are based on my new arrangement. When I move and update my outgoings with PAyplan, no doubt the DMP payments will increase!

just wanted to note, you have no need to be 'ashamed' - you are facing up to your debt, as many of us on here are doing (or have done in the past, as in my case). I think that is something to be proud of :D

Living on £75 a week is doable and it can be hard but if you cook your own food instead of living on ready meals and take outs you should do ok I agree with the others that £50 a month on your mobile phone is high.

It is hard when your friends earn more and spend more but you could invite them round for dinner (that could be a bowl of chilli with rice or spag bol) and watch a DVD or play videogames.

Join in a few challenges here e.g. make £10 a day or even save your £2 coins may help.

    Thanks Dawn / Material Girl

I'm getting past the ashamed part now. Have even told a few friends and - guess what - they haven't disowned me and let me know of any top tips they come across!

Horace - I'm issuing myself some challenges as we speak!
