ClootiesMum wrote: »What a brilliant first of 1000 ideas - and it's so do-able. And it's a brilliantly simple idea - how do you come up with all these wonderful thoughts? When I'm in the garden all I seem to think is, "Is that a weed or a plant?"
Im afraid that at the moment they are all weeds :rotfl:I am getting nearer the planting out stage.
Only another 999 ideas to go -see we've already gone from four figures to three:j.
Had the baby out for a play in the sun - he happily played in the sand and I chatted with our headteacher about our new school project............. Ever felt that you'd wished you kept your big mouth shut????????? I do hope I haven't bitten off more than I can chew.
I'm now in the kitchen witha cuppa - off to try and perfect my Krisproll recipe as I've got a feeling I may have a lot of packed lunches coming up:o
When they are in the oven drying I need to get cracking with a pretty extensive project plan for our move - not looking forward to starting but its pretty OK once you get into it.
I've put some brisket in the slow cooker. DS will be treated to brisket, roast pots, yorkies and veg tomorrow night for his tea. I'm then hoping that the rest will do 5 pots of stovies - I will chop up the meat and freeze in portions, with the onion gravy doing 4 weeks of Toad-in-the-hole. Both kids like theirs "dry" - but the whole point of Tin the H is the gravy as far as I'm concerned.
Baby is sparked out on the sofa under my crochet blanket - I think and hour in the park and the bike ride there and back has worn him out .
So far - so little spending. £1.09 for the milk that's all. I've updated my signature so feeling Oh so in control. Betcha that only lasts until bubs wakes up:D
Off to seek inspiration in breadmaking.

Great idea number 1.
Reading your post earlier sparked a thought for me about milk. Not my own i am afraid but like the best ideas, pilfered from here. For cooking nowadays, i use skimmed milk powder made up with water to make the required amount of milk. Much cheaper. Great for yorkshire puddings, pancakes and rice pudding. I haven't tried it in one of those angel delight type deserts but can't see how it works.
It was something i always used to have in for breadmaking, but since i heard this way of using it, i started doing it. I then also do it occasionally when my milk is really low and i am skint to top up the bottle so the kids can still have their morning drink. Do this for x number of days along with not having your coke and making your own loaves and you will be a millionaire before you know it. (A million pennies though. :rotfl:)
I don't think there is much on the telly tonight. DH said something about eurovision but i think i would rather pull my own teeth.
ETA - another ravioli recipe. Pumpkin in pasta is so yummy. Great with a tomato based sauce. Yum. Wish i made my own, but the cheap freezer shop sells it so cheap.0 -
Wow I am in awe of you memorygirl - have read through your whole thread and decided I am a right old wimp and I can definitely improve the way we are living/dealing with our money(or lack of it). I am going to have to steal some of the cooking ideas and am already using the 15mins idea, but really want to get back to basics a lot more.
Have also worked out the mortgage idea and £5.70 a day seems a good thing to aim for then if some extra comes in can cross out a few extra days!
Thank you for making everything seem so simple and ultimately possible:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:TMortgage £119,533 going down slowly

MemoryGirl, find your idea about the tree is absolutely irresistible. Would you mind if I use it to track progress on debt payments initially?

Hi Memory Girl, I'm sure I remember reading you before Baby was born and you were trying to gather everything together/make everything for free
I love the idea of breaking the big numbers into smaller ones.
Along with ChaMichelle's idea on dried milk, I usually have a few of those cartons of long life milk in the cupboard, great if you can pick them up cheaper than fresh milk and it can be a godsend if the weathers dreadful.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no: 203.0 -
Wow Memorygirl you are making me rethink my whole attitude towards spending. I am LOVING the tree idea and the 1000 smaller payments. If I do the 30 days towards 1 of my 1000 payments then that will be £5.73 per day. I hope you don't mind but I'm going to pinch it for June. Am looking forward to reading more of this thread. You're a real inspirationMummy to 3 fabulous boys all under 4 :eek:0

Memory Girl - if all your ideas are as brilliantly simple as number 1 then I might have an idea for number 2.
Write another book.
From the other posts on your thread then it looks like other people are as impressed & as in awe as I am (& want to steal your ideas) of your ideas - so why not put them together and market them?
But test them on your thread first of course so we can get them for free

it's true your mortgage idea is pure genius. I'm trying to pay one month in advance on my mortgage but i'm also trying to save against my other debt which is at a higher rate, so at the moment i can only send across odd bits and bobs.
i certainly try your flylady 15mins thing.0 -
