I ordered one of these binders for my son (and I wasn't expecting very much to be honest!) but I'm really impressed at the quality of the whole thing. It's called 'The Democracy Cookbook', it's a big solid binder 3 inches thick on both sides and it has hundreds of thick card worksheets and info sheets inside, my son's genuinely interested in working through it. It's free, with free postage and you can order as many as you like. I also ordered a free DVD but that hasn't come yet. The binder came by courier.

The site address is http://www.dopolitics.org.uk/order-r...-form/_nocache, and the form is under Order Resources, then just click on Educational Resources and 'view.'

If you know any little bookworms, or a child interested in the elections this is a great resource. I did think it might not hang around for long with the elections being this week but the person I spoke to said there aren't any current plans to withdraw the offer:)

(I hope I've done this right, sorry if I've made any newbie mistakes!)

I forgot to mention - there is also a version for the Welsh Assembly, Northern Ireland Assembly and Scottish parliament.

  • Thanks OP. You can also download the Cookbook at http://www.dopolitics.org.uk/toolbox-index/toolbox2/d-f/democracy-cookbook.

Where did you order the DVD from OP?

EDIT - sorry the DVD option doesn't seem to be there anymore.

I do think it's better to order the file than download it as quite a massive thing, and the pages are of a good quality. Also at the back there are 2 plastic sleeves containing lots of posters to put on the wall.

Thanks for this, looks great. Just wish I'd known about it sooner, as my son is really interested. Hope it comes by Friday.

Have sent for the postcard set too.
I try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say. :)

    Hello

Thanks for the info on this, my daughter is 7 and has really taken an interst in this years election but it is difficult to explain things to her sometimes, this sounds perfect :)

    Thanks again...

Thanks OP. I just thought that people might want to look at it first to ensure they want it. I'm thinking of saving paper - all this recyling has gone to my head! :rotfl:

I checked this morning. Both my children have been really interested in this election. I can only see Democracy cookbook Welsh version on the order form. Will send an email, see how I get on.

I got mine yesterday via courier, excellent resources very well put together but I have to say they are more of a teachers guide than something you can hand over to your kids and leave them to it.

Very useful though and full of loads and loads of useful stuff again though only with supervision really and teaching :)
