Awaiting p60 from jobcentre to claim rebate, but what if i get job before it arrives?

I only worked 2months during the last financial year, and so earnt just under £5,500,
but was getting fcuked at the BR1 tax rate,
and so am owed just over £1,100 rebate (all the tax i paid).

I was waiting unhappily till April 5th when i had been told that id be getting it all automatically along with my jsa,
although i dont trust the tax-office and so knew they would do something to avoid paying it that easily,
and so not suprisingly when 5th April came no money, no letters, and no-one at tax office or jobcentre knew anything about how the system worked or where my money was being held!!

I foundout through my own research that as the tax office had been mucking up more and hadn't even registered on their system me working and paying tax for those 3months!

(Although they seemed to be aware enough to tax the cash from me every month back then)

And so id have to wait till i get my p60 from the jobcentre (which by law has to be sent to me by 31st May at the latest),
and this should show all the money i earnt from the job plus alll i got in taxable benefits,
and i then have to post a photocopy of this form along with a strong worded letter to the tax office demanding immediate refund of my money.

(Which combined is under £6,500, so all the £1,100 of tax paid is going to have to be returned to me)

I have a problem though in that i could very likely be starting a new job from the beginning of next week,
and so would get my p45 back from the jobcentre and give it all to the new employer who would be dealing with all my tax stuff through the paycheques.

However if I don't have my p60 form from the jobcentre when i start that job,
who would then legally be responsible for giving me my p60 form by the 31st May,
the jobcentre or the new employer??

And on a 2nd important note, as the tax office still haven't stopped fcuking around,
despite me telling them 2x about me being given the wrong tax-code for this year,
im still currently stuck with the BR1 tax code against my name!

And so when i start the new job il be starting by paying the emergency tax again!:mad:

Im going to write an extremely strong letter to the tax office tonight demanding that not only my tax code is changed straight away,
but that they also then post me an official letter confirming that change and what my new code is.

And then am going to photocopy that letter 100x,
and post all 100copies to them, just to ensure that there is no possible way that they can claim to have lost my letter in the post or not be able to find me on the system or any of the other excuses they have used when ive phoned them before!!

(I have an unlimited supply of stamps that i can steal so posting 100 copies isn't going to cost me anything) :D:cool::)

But given the slowness that the tax office seem to do everything with,
how long will it actually take them to change my code on their system, and so stop me getting over-taxed in my pay??

Thanks

In relation to your P60, you will still receive one from the JC. You send the original to your tax office with the letter requesting the refund. Please dont be rude to them, they are only doing their job. If you had sorted out your code during the year, the JC would have made the refund and you wouldnt be in a queue.
If you start a new job, I recommend that you dont give them the P45 from the JC with code BR on it. Ask the new employer for a form P46 and sign it to say its your only job. They will then put you on emergency code, which is more favourable than BR.

Yes, sending the letter 100 times will really help. You really have no clue. It was not HMRC taxing you during the year, it was employer who put you on the BR code.

And for the current year when you sign of JSA you will get a P45 from the JC which you give to any new employer....last years P45 is of no use.
