mortgage discharge

hi all,quick responce is needed,i have a secured loan with a very dodgy company.i complianed to the ombusman about them,during the investigation i received a mortgage discharge forum from their solicitors stating the loan has been paid and they have released the charge on the property.all i have to do is pay the fee and the mortgage will be discharged.where will i stand legally if i do this and would the solicitors letter stating mortgage paid stand up in court
