Yellow Pages delivery - how much does this pay?

Hi, does anyone know the pay rates for this job?
I've received a message to say they are looking for delivery people in my area. Will it be worth it financially?
Any pros/cons?
Thanks

when i applied in my area it work out to be about £20 to deliver 250 books and you have to collect them0

Thats the rate I was paid too.
Be careful though with the rules of delivery, a few years ago you werent allowed to leave them on doorsteps if people were out and it meant we had to keep returning (which was a pain). Someone who was delivering them at the same time left them on peoples doorsteps and were pulled aside over it.
BUT saying that we have had them delivered to my home and have found them on the doorstep...so it may of changed.
Just thought I'd make you aware as it makes it quite timeconsuming otherwise.0 -
A friend did it and said it's very hard work. Due to the size and weight of the books, you can only carry a couple at a time, so it's time consuming keep walking backwards and forwards to the car for more supplies. Here I go again on my own....0

I did phone books last year. Never again. They arrived on a rainy morning at 8am - on a pallet, as there was so many. So firstly I had to help the driver unload his van, then me & OH had to store them in the shed and in the living room as it was raining.
I did get £100 but they are heavy so you cant carry many and opening gates then closing them all while trying to carry half a dozen books is no fun.
Also they only just fit through the letter boxes then dogs jump up and snatch at them, or you leave them on the steps ( I think yellow pages are just left on the step).
If you have some sort of trolley it would be helpful but personally I wouldnt do it again as it probably cost me a fair bit in petrol, time (10 evenings) and shoe leather. The curve that can set a lot of things straight is a smile0 -
I did it about 10 years ago, when I had a 14 month baby, and was 6 months pregnant, because I was deperate to raise money to get a double buggy!!!
I would never ever do it again, if anyone lives in devon/dorset I was 'lucky' enough to be allocated Lyme Regis, which is just massive really long, really steep hills, when pregnant and pushing a buggy with 10 yellow pages stuffed underneath, going up, or even down huge hills was awful!!
When I did it we had to get a signature for each book, which meant like someone else has already said, I had to go back about 10 times, and even with a buggy I couldn't carry more than 10 at a time, which meant numerous trips back to the car.
If you are lucky to get a nice flat area where all the houses are in close proximity, great! If on the other hand you are given a hilly area, or even worse than that, a rural area, where houses are miles apart, you might find that the effort, and petrol, and your time is really not worth it.
(I earnt about £60 by the way, but was threatened with a £10 'fine' for not being able to find a house I should have delivered to, but they must have sent someone else to find it who also couldn't find it, because when my cheque came through it was for the full amount!)I believe that I have the strength to make my dreams come true:T September Challenge £5 per day - £0/£150 :T0 -
Many thank for all your help, I may give it a miss, as I live in a semi-rural area with lots of long drives etc., plus my back is playing up a bit. I sound like a geriatric don't I?:rotfl:A minute at the till, a lifetime on the bill.

Ours came last week.
To be honest, it looked like really hard work. Poor bloke had a car full of em, could only carry a couple at a time, then kept having to move the car etc. He looked absolutely shattered.
With my debts, I would do most things for an extra few quid, but that looked a bit too much like hard work for me :rolleyes:Is it better to aim for the stars and hit a tree or aim for a tree and land in its branches :think:Loves being a Wonderbra friend :kisses3:
