Advice on reducing our outgoings

Okay, not sure how this works but just been on the budget planner and was rather alarmed to find me have so little spare cash each month so I'd like to improve our situation. We're still in our early thirties with one child who is 14 and would, at some point in the near future like to have another child, so sorting our finances out before then would be a big help.
The stated income is basic take home pay for both myself and my partner who works part time. However, we both work extra hours so I could add around £400-£500 per month to that total and my partner another £150 or so to it if need be. I didn't include it in the totals though, as although overtime is pretty abundant for the foreseeable future for both of us, I wouldn't like to be dependant on it. That said however, it seems that the more we earn, the more we spend!
So any advice would be most appreciated.

What are you spending £600 a year on in the garden? If you are hiring someone to cut the grass/hedges can't you get your 14 year old to do it at minimum wage (for the age!) I could use a lawnmower (with trip switch incase I cut the cable- I never did, though my dad did once) and cut the hedges with hand shears at that age.But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,Had the whole of their cash in his care.

Do you have the amount leftover the SOA suggests?
The stated income is basic take home pay for both myself and my partner who works part time. However, we both work extra hours so I could add around £400-£500 per month to that total and my partner another £150 or so to it if need be. I didn't include it in the totals though, as although overtime is pretty abundant for the foreseeable future for both of us, I wouldn't like to be dependant on it.
