disgraceful advertising from northern rock

While I thought that maybe this one may be suited to the rant forum, in context, I thought it might find the most receptive audience here.
does no one else think this banner advert thats seems to be currently (14.08.06) at the top of almost every page of the northernrock website absolutely disgraceful:
http://www.northernrock.co.uk/_assets/media/banners/swfSiteBanner.swf
I fail to see how this is advertising responsibility. I know as a designer myself if I had conceptualised this I would say it was a playfully based spoof of the 'subliminal mind control' hypno-toad conspiracy theories, lacking any subtlety, but I personally find this extremely inappropriate considering the current financial climate.
I advocate personal responsibility, but even though, I would say this sort of message really isn't acceptable. Along with the 'life's more exciting when you say yes [to irresponsible debt]' adverts of Virgin Credit Card currently showing on TV.

"I MUST NOW TAKE OUT A NORTHERN ROCK LOAN" (said in an alien-toad voice)
:rotfl: but yes I see exactly what your talking about - it's irresponsable and then NR will be complaining that people aren't paying their loans back!
DEBT FREE for the first time in 10 years and with savings!
1st Baby due May 2011
it's a BOY:j0 -
That advert is totally weird! Have you complained to Northern Rock OP?"Debt makes plans for you" - A quote from my friend Catherine. How true!0

if you have any comments you'd like to share with their customer support the email from their website is customersupport@northernrock.co.uk0 -
I complained to the ASA about this TV ad for consolidation loans by Capital Bank. It was so bad - it was mocked up as a newsreader saying 'many people having difficulties with money are going to Capital Finance' then he hands over to the MONEY EDITOR(!) to profile the product. It was really bad. I got a letter saying they're investigating the complaint....
Haha I've never complained about this stuff before, I am definitely programmed with the DFW way now...:A :heartpuls June 2014 / £2014 in 2014 / £735.97 / 36.5%0 -
Am I missing something? All I see is toast with a loan offer on it.0

Subliminal advertising...I have a sudden urge to stencil large brown words on slices of bread for some strange reason....0

Toast? It's a toad trying to control my mind isn't it?!
I don't think they should be advertised at all. Smoking isn't allowed to be...Was debt free... then went travelling!0 -
Mmmm....Mind toast....0
