What about services (gas, water, electric...), council tax, tv licence, phone.... Do we stop paying those too or do we keep those up?
Thanks

Hi Topcat
I would definitely advise you to keep TV licence payments going as a possible consequence of non-payment is a magistrates court fine of up to £1K - this would not be a provable debt in bankruptcy.
If the Official Receiver sees that you have been missing certain bill payments prior to bankruptcy, they may want to know how that money has been used instead and you may thus need to account for it.
Bear in mind that your full year's council tax bill wil only be included in the bankruptcy if a Liability Order has been obtained thus calling the full amount in. Otherwise it will simply be the arrears at the point of your bankruptcy that are included.
As an aside, and just for the benefit of anyone viewing this thread who has a mixture of business and personal debts, Business Debtline can advise on both.

I had a mixture of business and personal debt - please feel free to have a look through my posts - and following advice from BDL and this site I first applied for my company to be Struck Off and then applied for bankruptcy a few months following that... to do any thing else with your company (other than just walk away) will cost money... all the best... it does feel like a tangled web at times but you will get thru it...0

Hi all,
Things moving on now.
We have found our new rented house and signed up for a long term rental agreement to cover us for the bankruptcy period.
The old house is empty, everything moved out, radiators drained, water turned off, gas turned off and electric turned off.
We have not paid any of our creditors this month.
Forms downloaded and going through filling them in.
We will phone the courts tomorrow and find out what there procedure is - with a bit of luck we may be joining the October br club thread.
