  • £40 a night even once a week is too high. When I was your age (and I'm only 25 now) I could get by on max £15 a night and that included a taxi ride home (about 10 miles)

Credit to an under 18yr old is not legally enforceable if I am correct - although you are now over 18.

I agree with Glitterari - there are plenty of jobs that do not require qualifications, get the first thing you can & come to an agreement with the company. What happened to the money you got for selling the "stuff"?

If you can't cancel your orange contract, ring customer services and say that you want to reduce your contract. When I was with orange, they told me at the shop that I could do this. Plus, if you've been with them for a long time, you could negotiate a better deal with them. Give them an example of a better contract that is available and ask if they will match it. If they won't play ball, ask to be put through to the cancellation department - this usually gets them going!
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

I don't think you are being quite straight with yourself - you have ordered £13,000's worth of stuff and sold it - and you don't have the money any more. From your SOA it doesn't show what you might have spent it on. Are you still spending, or has it stopped?
  • Mr A,

Do you think you are ready to change your lifestyle? You are on so little money and you need to be sensible and you need a plan for the next stage of your life.

I agree with Glitterati's comments - I am sure you will think we are being really harsh but you have this wonderful opportunity to turn your life around before it is too late. Think of it as a life makeover!:T

How much would the payments on the £13000 HP stuff be?

You need a job - if you are healthy you can work - it means starting at the bottom as you have no qualifications though. Take anything and think seriously about what you would like to do and devise a plan to get there - maybe you could get some qualifications by studying part time. You at least need to get some Maths and English qualifications - speak to your local college. With job applications try and get some help with filling them in so your spelling and sentence construction and presentation are the best they can be - there is a lot of help out there :j

Where do you live? with family? because there are no other bills mentioned (gas, water,tv etc etc)

    Hey,

Thanks here is my SOA everything i can think of hmm :)

    Monthly Incomings:

    Benefits - £280

    Total - £280

    Monthly Outgoings:

    NTL - £40 - cancel
    Mobile Contract (Orange) - £50PAYG
    Food - £35
Credit Card - £Dependsbut what do you buy?

    Total: £125

Capital One (29.9% APR) (Limit £250) (Spent £120)are you paying it off? the rate is very high. cut it up.

My space £155 might goto a nights out or something along the lines of that over the month depends i usealy spend £40 on a night out only once a week.too much - are you spending to escape the boredom of your life? What do you do during the day? do you exercise?

    Regards,

hi there - what did you buy, exactly? For that amount in 2 months since you turned 18, I'm thinking, a car? Plasma? If you sold them, what happened to the money you got from them? You say it was after 'ordering too much' - what did you order? From who?

Did you buy any of it before you were 18?

What is the minimum monthly payment on your credit card - are you paying it?

    Rent/TV/licence/house insurance/Electricity/Water/Council tax?

If you are paying for NTL on your own, I guess you are paying these also?

Cancel NTL. Is Freeview available in your area?

Call Orange and ask for their lowest tariff. £50 is high.

Can you switch to a 0% CC to get rid of the Capital One card? Are you up to date with it?

If you are on benefits, you can't afford to spend £155 a month on 'my space' i'm afraid.

Transport - how do you get about? Bus? Bike? If bus you need to add this to you SOA.

Your food spend is low - only £35 a month. This is excellent if it is a total monthly spend.

Lots of question, I know, but everyone will be able to build a full picture of your situation.

If you are on benefits, aren't the Job Centre pushing you to work? Are there supermarkets, bars, restaurants, cafes nearby where you could work?

Why not have a chat with the Job Centre or local college if you left school without exams, there must be some opportunities to get English and Maths qualifications in some way whilst still claiming benefits. I'm pretty sure you can do evening classes in the basics, it is free if you are on benefits and it will mean you can still look for work.

Let us know everything - we'll get you sorted!

The big part of the debt was a from a company i bought alot of stuff from which is not a credit agreement. but in there terms and conditions of sale that ie. the stuff is owned by them until they recieve full payment.

I don't understand this (maybe I'm just missing something) – what kind of arrangement is this?? how can this be done without a credit agreement?? ...
