I found a really good website called ACL A country life where a woman lives according to rationing for a year. she lost so much weight it was amazing, also she reduced her shopping from £90 to £50 a week for a family of 5.
Also with clothes you were allowed 76 points for a child and 66 for an adult and even school uniform had points so you wouldn't get much.
You weren't allowed anything for the house unless you were bombed out or newly weds. I reckon you can save lots of money living like this so when i go shopping on friday i am just going to buy rations, does anyone want to join me in this chalenge. the menu plans and recipies are on her website.

each family was allowed one bath a week to share with 5 inches of water.

Armani??? I was reading a book the other day about WWII, and they mentioned Amami, so I guess that's the one you meant!
My grandma used to have Evening in Paris perfume, it came in a lovely blue bottle.
4 toilet rolls a month, though... not sure I could manage that - but I suppose there was always newspaper! Not sure I'd like to try & replicate that part of the rations!:o0 -
Someone on here put me onto this blog (thanks Doddsy:T ) I found it fascinating. I'd have been really interested if she had been doing it for her whole family, but she's just doing it for herself. I think rationing must have been easier to cope with the bigger your family was. I don't think she is following rationing for household goods and clothes, I think it's just food and she's doing it for health reasons. It's also worth bearing in mind that the lady in question is in Canada, so food prices may be different.0
