                    hey there
this is my first time posting on this forum though i have speny lots of time reading here. I was so surprised at the honesty of everyone and help offered. So here i am looking for some guidance.
i'm 31 and have just recently realised i could go no further carrying my 21,000 of debt with me. Before using cards or getting loans never seemed a bother but since i have married, had 2 gorg kids and built a house, it's no longer the case that all my money is for me.
my poor hubby is paying for everything and i don't want that, nor do i want my kids to do without because of my foolish spending iver the years.
at present i have a family loan which i pay £300 p/m which will end in march 12, and then i pay £250 to a dmp with company who charge 17.5% to facilitate my debt.
its tight going but at minute thats all i can pay. I am worried though, as only 6 out of my 11 creditors have accepted the payments as offered through the dmp.
can anyone tell me what they think about this.... Should i try cccs? How do i know that i'm not tied to the dmp company?
anything would be much appreciated

            Hi
I didn't want to just read and move on, but well done on posting. It's quite nerve wracking posting and asking for help, but eveone on here is very friendly and supportive
I don't know enough to be able to help you but there will be someone who will (might not be as many as usual because ofthe Bank Holiday weekend.)
I would definitely advise phoning CCCS or posting a message on the "Ask a CCCS counsellor a question" thread. I phoned them this week and the guy I spoke to was really friendly and helpul. They don't charge you either!!0

Hi there - what you have to remember is that with your present profit-based company when you pay them £250 they take their fee out of that and then use remainder to pay to your creditors.
Switch to one of the charity DMP companies and all your £250 or whatever figure they set, will go towards clearing your debt, which will clear it quicker. By the way, your fee-charging company will try to put you off by telling you that CCCS, etc can't guarantee stopping interest/charges, acceptance of offers, tc - but no-one can, be they free or fee based.
 CCCS - freephone 0800 138 1111 www.cccs.co.uk
National Debtline 0808 808 4000 www.nationaldebtline.co.uk and then click on 'Debt Remedy' where you can enter all your details and it will come up with suggestions of where to go from here without having to speak to anyone at this point
PayPlan - free but may try to sell you insurance, etc
Citizen Advice Bureau - check ot your local CAB office
you may wish to post you SOA (Statement of Affairs) on here and people can advise you - use http://makesenseofcards.com/soacalc.html Mr 3Dogs 3-7-12 Mr 3Dogs 3-7-12 3Dogs'Mam 31-3-13 3Dogs'Mam 31-3-13 0 0

Both CCCS and Payplan have really good reputations. I've been on a DMP since December 2009 with CCCS and cannot recommend them enough.DeeBee0
