That is a fantastic hair colour- I want it!! (My hair is bright red but not as red as that, more orange and slightly darker- its the Live brand) I find all the reds I have tried have faded very quickly within a week and then even more after that. I can't put one brand above the other for fading (or lack of) but using a colour safe shampoo- or even better a colour depositing shampoo I think helps. The only problem is the colour depositing shades are just one shade and the colour safe shampoos don't tend to do anything other then be colour safe (eg they don't do anything for frizz, volume, curl or straightening).

Anyone have any answers on this? I have just finished a few last dregs of Kerastase, it did seem to help but it was a gift given a long time ago and theres no way I can get anymore :( I used Bumble and Bumble (non colour safe) and Goldwell (again non colour safe) both made my hair much duller. I am reluctant to use the John Freida range as it just seems to be one red and quite a dark one at that.

I use the Schwartzkopf Live 'Red Passion' which is is the longest lasting red I have tried. :j My hot tip for not fading is to use Batiste dry shampoo on 'in between' days and only use a rinse off conditioner when you are deep conditioning. It is repeat applications of water that seems to strip the colour the most.

I use Schwartzkopf Gliss shampoo and leave-in conditioner and happy with the price (£1+) and results. I found many shampoos designed for red hair very drying - tried Goldwell, Sunsilk, Botanics, Nicky Clarke, Trevor Sorbie - which I think meant the colour stripped out faster!!

Thats the brand I use!! Wish it lasted longer!

I like the whole Baptise idea but it really does make my hair look faded when I spray. Bumble and Bumble do a good dry shampoo but its too expensive to use all the time, James Brown did a good one but Boots seem to have pulled it from the shelves.

Wish one of the brands would do something with this- theres obviously a market for it!

xXMessedUpXx thanks for the photo and details! I must admit I did start to think, oh hang on I *could* do all of my hair myself - I certainly used to do some home dyeing (sp?) a few years ago and yours has come out really well - what hair colour are you naturally?

My hair though is quite a bit longer so would take a bit more time and work I reckon, not sure I've got the patience for it!:D

Also I think I mentioned, I'd have a cascade of colour as I started going grey quite young and there's plenty there now (I'm not 'old' by any stretch btw LOL!) so when my roots come through they wouldn't just be very dark brown, there'd be a fair sprinkling of grey and not sure I'd be liking that!

How do you manage the roots when they come through - how often etc ?
