excellent offer - netfirms have a good reputaiton - but what is the cost after the first year? I don't want another domain that I have to renew and then move.

I assume the cost the following year will be the full $119.40.

Although they say you can move the domain to another registrar after 60-days of initial registrations and 30-days before the expire date - should you wish to go elsewhere.

The $10 fee for 2 domains is worth it in itself: i might take it up and move them elsewhere.

As for the hosting a few reviews i saw suggested websites hosted with them aren't particularly fast. So if anyone is currently using them, it'd be interesting if they could upload a 1mb test file and let people test to see what sort of download speeds are achievable.

    See post #9

I took it out yesterday. I registered :

https://www.80snoz.com - am just going to use the webspace as a FTP dumping ground for another board I post to.

The front page is just the generic Wordpress default. Other included scripts have been added, see:

    http://www.80snoz.com/forum

As you can see, my input at this stage has been minimal to say the least!

Before you choose ANY host, I suggest that you check them out on a large reputable hosting community such as

    Webhostingtalk

Do a search for netfirms and then make your decision!.

Very few people will ever need anything like 750gb of bandwidth, and I doubt even this forum uses that much in a month! so don't be taken in by huge figures!.

Another thing to look out for, are hosting offers which offer unlimited space!, hmm have you ever seen an unlimited hard drive?, and where can I buy one?

Soz for the daft question, but you mentioned "..The $10 fe for 2 domain is worth it in itself...", does that mean you keep the domains forever and just move to another site to use there space after the year is up? I am new to domain/websites things, and a little confused, I joined to jamroll, only to discover I only have 100mb, but really wanted more.

Many thanks for the link. I have just bought a domain that I really wanted before but it was unavailable. Hurrah

The domains will only be paid up for 1 year. But the price of domains is usually in the region of around $9-10 per year (netfirms usual price is $4.95 only for the first year and $9.95 thereafter)

So it may be possible to transfer them to another registrar (the only catch is that you have to pay an extra year at the new host to transfer it.

It does seem netfirms don't get any particular great reviews with respect to mysql or heavy php use. And the speeds seem alright - nothing amazing though - i was getting 100kb/s

Anybody else having any porblems with this deal? I tried it, but I've not been able to access the control panel for a few days, and the site I registered has become just a generic ad site.

Don't know whether it's been hacked (unlikely), or whether Netfrims cancelled my order without telling me for some reason.
