Job Hunt (UPDATE!)

Hello DFWs!

I just wanted a quick post on here - no I'm not procrastinating!! - and ask you all to cross your fingers for me whilst I find a job. My debts will be so much easier to pay off once I have some money coming in - Doh!

I am working on one application at the moment (heck it's 1am!) and it has to be in at midday (only found out about the job on Friday).

My confidence has taken a right old bashing recently as have not been able to find much temp work and haven't even had any interviews for the permanent jobs I have gone for. I can't understand it! I am a really hard worker...etc etc etc

Argh!

It'll all be ok right? Makes you put being debt free in perspective though - all this borrowing we are encouraged to do - but what about if you lose your job, get sick etc...makes me shudder...

Annie

Best of luck to you. I wish you well. An SOA (statement of affairs), would help members help you find ways of cost cutting. SS has a very useful and informative thread. First Time Posters .Hope this helps.

God, I know how tough this has been for you. seems like you have been looking for ages.

Why not go for a completely different tack, and take literally any old job, any pay will do, and then volunteer around it and try a few different things out.
Ive been in a rut myself as you know recently, and Im going to try to find a volunteering opportunity that will work for me, to just get me "out there" and get some new skills in a new area. I expect it will give me the boost I need. Could you try that?

Lynz - it's getting any old job! I wanted to apply for a weekend job as a receptionist in a estate agents. I rang them to find out the hours and pay they were offering. The told me the hours but not the pay. They said someone would call back - they never did. Even though I called back again.

I have done filing for £6 an hour.

And you Lynz you suggest volunteering. I know what you are saying but I am the volunteering queen! A couple of years ago I helped organise a 4 day festival which literally took over my life. Don't get me wrong but I have had to take a step back from these roles because I just give too much.

Thankfully I have a supportive partner otherwise I would probably be on the streets!

How is your boyfriend getting on Lynz?

    Hes doing ok
We were away last week and towards the end of the week the phone didnt stop. He has been quite fortunate really, but he just hassled the agencies to the nth degree before we left, I presume that must have helped. We got back on sat, hes working today. the hourly rates not amazing, but its something and its a month appaerently, but could be extended. Hes got some more DJing gigs coming up over the next few weeks ( fingers crossed) and we have a volunteering thing stating Saturday ( home based). Dunno since weve come back we are firing on all pistons, I think the break must have done us the world of good, reassessing our priorities etc.

Right looks like my efforts are starting to pay off. I emailed my application across today for the weekend receptionists job and they would like me to come in for an interview tomorrow at 5pm! Wish me luck please DFWs!
